A Brief History of Chocolate

The key ingredient of chocolate is cacao. The discovery of this well-known gem dates back to the early 2000 BC. Ancient civilizations such as the Toltec, Aztec, Olmec, and the Maya were clearly aware of the benefits this miracle bean holds.
However, the Olmec civilization was the first to create chocolate out of cacao beans. Where they consumed it in its liquid form. In general, most of the Mesoamerican cultures knew the worth of cacao beans to the extent of calling it “The Drink of Gods”.
Finally, explorers were the main reason for chocolate and cocoa beans to reach Europe and the rest of the world.
